Today we broke the History Tour history agenda and took a day to play at Water Country in Williamsburg. We had so much fun. The Water Country is owned by Busch Gardens. There is a bit of history to Busch Gardens in this area though. In 1969, Colonial Williamsburg would sell off land adjacent to them. They sold the Anheuser Busch. They sold it to them because they had a vision of Busch making a contribution to the area without a large industrial presence. The industrial presence would detract from the Colonial Williamsburg theme. They also did not want Busch to build a themed park that was of historical theme. So, Busch Gardens was created. Later, Water Country would be built. So there, our history for the day. Now for the fun. We went on a slide called Aqua Zoid. It was so much fun. The tube went underground at one point. And was dark with quick drop offs. The raft we were on held all four of us. This was our favorite of the day. We went on the Colossal Curl and it was a raft for all four of us. We were launched way up high on a backdrop. My stomach left my body and came back. There is a river called Hubba Hubba . It was really relaxing and fun to just float through it. Michael went down the Vanish Point. It is a sheer drop. The rest of us were too chicken to go on it. The weather turned out great. There was threats of thunder storms, but nothing came too close and it was sunny and hot all day. Being in the water helped relieve the humid sticky crummy feeling. This is our last day in Williamsburg. We head to Alexandria next. Hopefully touring Mount Vernon Sunday Afternoon.
Here are all the slides at Water Country
http://watercountryusa.com/en/williamsburg/attractions/?from=Top_Nav Click on each slide to see pics and some videos. I didn't bring my Sport Cam into the slides with me. It was too difficult hanging on to the tubes and trying to hold a camera. If it was mounted to me, would have been better.
The Colossal Curl.
The Entry to the Hubba Hubba river. We spent a good part of the day here.
The Vanish Pint that Michael did. There are two ways to go down. The way Michael did, but going down the face with the drop straight down. The other is cylinders that you step in. The door is closed and it begins to fill with water. Then a floor collapses below your feet and you drop straight down and into the tubes to the end. I timed some folks doing that run and it was 10 seconds from top to bottom. They were going quite fast.
The Aqua Zoid. Our voted favorite of the day.
Our first, warm up slide.
Cow themed play area for little kids.
This is the wave pool. I didn't go in. Ann Marie and Michael hung out in there for a while.
