Hood River Fruit Loop

Every summer the twins and I take a trip to Hood River to visit Packer Orchards Bakery, Draper Girls Farm and the Cascade Alpacas. This summer we have gone twice, once in June and once in September. In June, Ann Marie and Michael held two new goats at Draper Girls Farm. The owner, Theresa, asked the kids to name the baby goats. Ann Marie came up with Brownie for one, and thought of Snowy for the white one. The owner said that Snowy was a dog's name they have so that wouldn't work. After we left, Ann Marie came up with the name Marshmallow. I was to email Theresa the name, but never did (Bad Dad). When we returned in September we learned another young girl named the goat Marshmallow. That was really funny to learn this.

Another stop is the Cascade Alpacas. We don't really go there to see the Alpacas. But we go to see Charlie, a 100lb Great Pyrenees dog. He is so mellow, he lets us lay with him and chill out. There are a couple of cats as well we visit with. Charlie has a young buddy named Ace. He is a 7 month old Great Pyrenees that weighs in at 80lbs already. He is learning how to be around the Alpacas, so he is in an area by himself. We go in that area to go visit him and he loves the company.

Packers Orchards Bakery makes the most incredible pies and pastries. They use fruit from their orchards and little sugar. They use mostly pear sweetener in their pies. This is a must stop for us each trip.

On our way home, we stopped by Mt Hood Meadows to check out the remaining snow. It was a hot day, so walking around on the snow felt good.
