Salmon River Trail with Michael and Ann Marie 4/21/14

Ann Marie and Michael, my twin kids, got day packs for their birthday a couple weeks ago. I gave them a choice of going skiing or going hiking and they chose hiking. I wanted to go hiking on Mt Hood, but too much snow on the trails. So I chose a lower elevation near Welches. The Salmon River flows through the Salmon Huckleberry Wilderness. We hiked along the river on the Old Salmon River Trail. Then joined the trail to the Wilderness area. This was the first hike the kids have been on with me. They had a lot of fun. We also did some Geocaching to keep their interest.The weather was very nice, but not too warm. Rain was moving in later in the day and it started to sprinkle as we were approaching the end of our hike. We hiked a little over 8 miles.
